Driver Hour Guard
By Road Rat

Santa, can I have a Driver Hour Guard for crimbo, I’ve been real good this year, but I want to make sure I’m better!

I’d like to introduce you to a great pair of beauties, TS01 DHG and is big brother TS02 DHG. The duo I’ve just had the great pleasure of testing was a true delight. I’ve been using its predecessor for a number of years, long before the working time directive arrived. This had to be an absolute necessity and now even more so. I was not disappointed to learn that the same team were behind the new and improved model. If you don’t want to get fined because you have run over your hours or you just want to know when to take your next break, then you really do need this. It records all your driving, poa, breaks, over your fortnightly spread over; simply everything. The first thing to notice is all the extra data on the large screen. However, it’s not what I would call ‘at a glance’ friendly, at times you just need to view 1 small bit of info. Every piece of information I need to fill in my daily time sheet is there, at the push of a button. It even comes with a windscreen arm holder which has no wobble unlike some I’ve used. It beeps at the right times, when you need a break, when you’ve had enough break, 30 minutes before you run out of duty time. I didn’t like the software disk that came with TS02 DHG, it’s just a personnel preference. However, the only down side is the fluorescent blue light on the screen. When you touch a button, the screen lights up, with enough intensity to kill any passing fly or bug, just like those things you find in a chip shop. But I would still highly recommend you get 1, TS01 DHG at rrp of £45, is excellent value for money. What you waiting for, go get 1!
